There are 6 parts to our core Distance Learning Program:

Faculty/Student Communication

  1. Scheduled and prearranged phone classes.
    1. One hour in length.
    2. Consistent schedule—1 call (class) every 2-4 weeks depending on material.
    3. Distance Learning student calls faculty member at a prearranged time.
    4. An agenda of items to be discussed will be faxed or emailed 3-5 days prior to call.
    5. Topics will be prearranged.
    6. If and where appropriate, several Distance Learning students and faculty may participate in a conference teaching call. Example may be in discussing a theory topic.
  1. Email and/or fax communication when and where needed. Faculty will respond to all emails as needed.
  2. Prearranged face to face meetings with faculty and Distance Learning students.
    1. Conferences
    2. Workshops/Seminars
    3. RPP scheduled classes
    4. To make good use of time—topics and procedures of face to face meetings will be prearranged with clear goals and outcome.

Home Study—Independent Work

    1. Prearranged tasks or study assignments discussed with faculty.
    2. Examples: Reading books, articles, and/or sections of materials—write questions up for discussion.
    3. Evaluation questions—open book topics to study
    4. Material will be organized and the process of completing tasks will be set up prior to start.

Projects

  1. Specific assignment that has a goal and completion target date.
  2. Could include: Interviews, research assignments, specific paper, audio/visual project, mentoring project.
  3. All projects will begin with a proposal that includes topic, procedures, methods of getting information, and recording findings.

All projects will culminate with a written paper including references used.

Case Studies

  1. Used as a method of assessing, recording, and setting up treatments and sessions with a client.
  2. Very useful way to work with a client with certain goals and keep track of treatment protocols and effective methods being used.

Details of protocol, treatment assessments, and techniques can successfully be discussed prior to the treatment with a faculty. Intake and results, after the treatment, can again be shared and analyzed with the faculty. This is a very effective way of doing shared bodywork while assessing Polarity protocols.

Video-Study

  1. Assigned videos to study with goals for assessment and method of reporting.
  2. Prearranged process with faculty so it fits into Distance Learning curriculum.

All video study will have a system of recording and reporting information.

Practicum Work

  1. All Distance Learning students will have to have hands on learning and bodywork evaluation.
  2. Four visits to the Columbus Polarity Therapy Institute for RPP level training are requested. Each visit will be selected according to the needs of the Distance Learning student.
  3. Other visits to other classes, courses, and/or seminars may be arranged. These will be pre-approved by faculty and Distance Learning student so they fit into the practicum process and the RPP hours needed.
  4. Students are encouraged to have consistent hands on practice of all techniques learned.
