As we grow older your ability to absorb B- vitamins decreases.
All B-vitamins are important on a daily basis. They are essential for normal and balanced cell function, required for red blood cell health, prevents arteriosclerosis and builds the immune system.
B-12 helps with mood swings, regulates sleep and produces more energy. The best way to take B-12 is sublingual (under tongue) which helps with effective absorption.
According to Time Magazine March 2006, hypnosis is becoming a popular alternative to sedation in the operating room!! Can this be attributed to the power of mind over matter?
Since the 1990’s, thousands of patients have opted for hypnosis either as a substitute or as a complement to anesthesia, explains Sora Song of Time Magazine. Hypnosis has been used for hundreds of years. It was used as a surgical anesthetic in 1845 in India. In 1958 the AMA (American Medical Association) approved its use in medical medicine and dentistry.
Good results occur when using hypnosis in surgery. In many cases there is less bleeding, less after effects such as nausea and fatigue, faster recovery and blocking of continual pain.
Hypnosis is another example of mind over matter. We can also see many other benefits of hypnosis, which could prevent drug dependence, help relieve the pain of arthritis and back injuries, reduce the frequency and intensity of migraine headaches and even contribute to permanent weight loss.
Start by learning how to meditate and/or do conscious breathing and relaxation as a first step to prepare yourself for hypnosis (see Mind, Body, Spirit section of this newsletter for more information.)

The facts that have been gathered about Global Warming have become an inconvenient truth for us all. It is well worth your time and your energy to go see Al Gore’s movie "An Inconvenient Truth"." The movie is shocking, well documented and expertly presented!! Be prepared to take your fair share of responsibility for this serious problem confronting us all.
The scientific community has shown very convincing evidence that thousands upon thousands of people are dying each year from the consequences of Global Warming. Excessive heat, increased frequencies of hurricanes and severe droughts are some of the occurrences contributing to these estimates. The movie suggests that we are going to experience some of the worst natural catastrophes ever faced by humankind, unless we the people do something about it. Why are we not listening?
Please go to www.climatecrisis.net and find out more about our problem of global warming.

According to a Newsweek cover story last summer by David Noonan, baby boomers that exposed themselves to blasting rock bands are now suffering the consequences. More than 28 million Americans, many in this age group, have a significant degree of hearing loss, and the number is expected to swell to 78 million by 2030. Mr. Noonan reported that more than 5 million children and teenagers between 6 and 19 have some hearing damage from amplified music and the general noise they encounter every day, a good deal of it funneled directly into their ears. "If they don’t take steps to protect their hearing," he wrote, "the iPod generation faces the same fate as the Woodstock generation. Or worse."

Researchers have found the highest rate of adverse reactions to cosmetics are caused by :
AVOID: Mineral oil, glycerin, alcohol, formaldehyde, dyes, and fragrance that are in many cosmetics.
Alternative products are:
For other products investigate Allercreme and Almay hypoallergenics (drug store). Clinique is sold in department stores, is more expensive and not rated any safer. Health food stores have a variety of preparations that have fewer chemicals.
For face and body soap try Basis – get the one marked "preservative and fragrance free." Neutrogena also has a fragrance free, hypoallergenic bar. Allercreme and Almay have unscented soap. Health food stores have a large variety.
"Hypoallergenic" does not assure you there will be no reaction. Try ONE product at a time. Sensitivities also develop after long use. It is a good idea to have one or two or three different soaps and lotions and alternate them.
Men frequently react to scented shaving creams. They should use an electric razor. Replace aftershave with a mixture of one part lemon juice and one part water. This is also an excellent astringent for both men and women.
Hair care: For dry hair, apply mayonnaise to dry, unwashed hair. Rinse after every fifteen minutes then shampoo thoroughly.
For conditioner, 1 tsp. Lemon juice or vinegar in ˝ cup water. Spray on hair after first rinse then rinse again.

A study in the December 2003 Issue of Mayo Clinic Proceedings reported that a lack of Vitamin D may be linked to muscular –skeletal pain. According to the study Vitamin D deficiency can occur if you have limited Vitamin D in your diet, limited sun exposure, if your kidneys are not able to convert Vitamin D, or if you have digestion and absorption problems. Add 400 – 800 IU of Vitamin D to your daily diet and see if your aches and pains go away!

Potential Impact of Strawberries on Human Health: A Review of the Science
Hannum, SM
Nutritional Sciences, University of Illinois, USA
Epidemiological studies have noted a consistent association between the consumption of diets rich in fruits and vegetables and a lower risk for chronic diseases including cancer and cardiovascular disease. There is accumulating evidence that much of the health-promoting potential of these plant foods may come from phytochemicals, bioactive compounds not designated as traditional nutrients. In strawberries, the most abundant of these are ellagic acid and certain flavonoids: anthocyani, catechin, quercetin and kaempferol. These strawberries have potent antioxidant power. Antioxidants help lower risk of cardiovascular events by inhibition of LDL – cholesterol oxidation, promotion of plaque stability, improved vascular endothelial function, and decreased tendency for thrombosis. Furthermore, strawberry extracts have been shown to inhibit COX enzymes in vitro, which would modulate the inflammatory process. Individual compounds in strawberries have demonstrated anticancer activity in several different experimental systems, blocking initiation of carcinogenesis, and suppressing progression and proliferation of tumors. Preliminary animal studies have indicated that diets rich in strawberries may also have the potential to provide benefits to the aging brain.

What It Will Do For You
This meditation, called seetali kriya, can be practiced whenever you get a fever, sickness or discomfort. It gives you power, strength and vitality. It is a cure from within. It will promote balance in your body’s system.
When you begin this meditation the tongue will first be bitter, then it will become sweet. Once this happens you will have overcome sickness and discomfort.
According to the old masters, if you practice this kriya everything that you need will come to you by way of the planetary ether.
How To Do It
Sit with a straight spine in a comfortable cross-legged position. If that is uncomfortable then sit up straight in a chair. Place thumb over index finger and rest hands on the knees. Take the tongue and roll it into a "V," with the tip just outside the lips. Inhale deeply through the rolled tongue; exhale through the nose.
Continue for a minimum of 2-3 minutes. You will find this an excellent breath to practice 26 times morning and evening.

Question:
I have been taking your tinctures for a while now, and I am not clear on how to use them and for what purposes. Could you please clarify?
Answer:
Hi, glad you asked! I will try to tell you about some of the tinctures, their ingredients, their purpose, and proper use.
Please remember that these tinctures are not medicines in the orthodox Western Medicine way. Plants, as opposed to medicines, contain a wide spectrum of compounds. They are in fact small chemical factories. Because of this diversity, each plant may have many different uses. And the way it works is to broadly affect the various physiological systems in a favorable and tonifying way, creating positive changes over a certain period of time.
Let’s talk about Healthy Cell, which I refer to as an Immune Builder. The herbs in Healthy Cell replenish and strengthen the Immune system, our body’s defense against disease. Healthy Cell works most efficiently to tonify the deep immune system, the bone marrow where blood cells, including white cells, are manufactured. It is a long-term tincture: we can safely take this tonic for a long time, six months or longer.
All the ingredients in Healthy Cell are extremely safe and gentle in action, but very effective. Astragalus, Licorice and Reishi contain substances known as Polyssacharides, i.e. sugars, which are very nourishing. Osha, Garlic and Echinacea have antibiotic and anti-viral properties. Cayenne and Ginger are stimulants, Peau D'Arco is an anti-fungal, Milk Thistle boosts the liver, Schizandra and Siberian Ginseng help balance the Nervous System which is most important to the proper function of the Immune System.
I usually recommend Healthy Cell to everyone. I personally start taking it in October and go through March with it. It does not "cure" colds and flu and other such conditions: it helps prevent them so you don’t have to go to the doctor! I also advise cancer patients to take it, as well as anyone who is recovering from illness.
The usual dose is 30-50 drops of Healthy Cell twice a day for at least two months. Then one can take a short one-week break and start taking the tincture again.
Compare this tincture to Winter Care. Winter Care is a Cold Chaser, to be taken at the first sign of a cold, the flu, or after having come into contact with a person suffering from a cold or flu.
Winter Care helps the production of lymphocites, which attack germs, microbes and viruses. It also soothes throats and lungs, and chases flu and fevers away.
Its ingredients include Elder Flowers and Boneset, herbs that help fight infections and fever, Yarrow which dries up mucus in the sinuses and the lungs, Ginger and Cayenne, for warming up cold conditions, Goldenseal, Echinacea and Garlic, all of which are powerful antibiotics, Licorice and Marshmallow Root to soothe inflamed tissues.
Winter Care works mostly with the Lymphatic system, which is the Surface Immune System. This is the system that moves fluids around the body and in the process cleanses and drains them.
I recommend this as a short-term tincture, no more than one week at a time. The initial dose can be as much as 50 drops, then come down to 30 drops three times a day for a couple of days, then 30 drops twice a day.
Another Lymphatic cleanser, excellent for inflamed sinuses, runny noses and other lymphatic conditions is the Lymphatic Cleanse. It contains Cleavers, a diuretic that helps expel water from the tissues, Calendula, a cleanser, and Echinacea and Golden Seal, excellent astringents and antibiotics.
The use of the Lymphatic Cleanse is also short term, only a week at a time. The dosage is 30 drops twice a day.
I hope this helps a little. I will continue with some more of these tinctures next month. See list of tinctures below.

Color plays a large part in our mood and sense of well being. One simple way to bring harmony or energy into our environment is to use color to influence positive change.
RED in polarity therapy is known as an earth element color. It enhances physical vitality, promotes courage. Stimulates sensory nerves, so can aid in deficiencies in sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. Builds hemoglobin.
ORANGE is the water element color. Orange helps increase creativity. It increases the activity of the lymphatic system and the "watery" elements of the body. Anti-spasmodic, relieves muscle cramps and spasms.
YELLOW is the color for the fire element. Yellow "brightens" the mind, helps with mental clarity, and promotes digestion. Stimulates, cleanses the liver. Activates motor nerves.
GREEN is the air element color. Green is the balancing color between warm and cool colors. Green is a balancing, soothing color. It nourishes the nervous system and relieves tension in the blood vessels. Green is the color of new life, growth and youth. Helpful is insomnia, irritability and exhaustion.
BLUE is the color for the ether element. Blue influences the throat and joint spaces. It aids expression and spiritual connection. It helps bring an inner stillness. Slows the heartbeat. Antiseptic and antibacterial affects antidotes inflammatory conditions. Astringent. Color of devotion.
INDIGO is the color associated with the 6th charka and the third eye center. Indigo enhances intuition. Purifies blood. Relaxes respiratory system. Good for pain relief. Raises consciousness to a higher vibration.
VIOLET is associated with the crown charka at the crown of the head and is a contact for pure spirit. Build leukocytes. Maintains sodium/potassium balance. Controls excess hunger. Improves ability to meditate.
Osteoporosis – is a strange and debilitating disease- One that strikes at any age, any time. It is the primary reason our seniors end up in nursing homes with back, hip, rib or other types of fractures. Although osteoporosis is prevalent in white postmenopausal women the occurrence of the disease is extending to all ages.
According to the National Institute of Health, Osteoporosis is a major health threat. In the United States alone, 10 million people already have osteoporosis and 18 million have low bone mass placing them at increased risk for the disease. Other sources believe there are millions of undetected cases of Osteoporosis because few know that they have low bone mass or any other skeletal disorder until they break a bone. Bone strength, which is the basis of osteoporosis, involves the density of the bone and the overall quality of the bone. The denser the bone is- the stronger it becomes. Think of the difference between a strong oak tree and a weeping willow tree. Homes built out of oak trees last for centuries.
Is Osteoporosis a lifestyle disease or a disease of our modern technology?
We know for certain that adequate Calcium and Vitamin D is critical to bone strength and bone mass. We also know that fast foods, processed foods and non-organically grown foods in soils completely depleted of minerals is a fact of our world today.
We know for a fact that common drugs rob our body of vital nutrients and often cause a deficiency in these nutrients no matter how well we eat.
An article in Great Life, June 199, talks about drugs that create this breakdown. The two major culprits were Diuretics such as Diamox, Midanor and Diuril and NSAIDS such as Advil, Nuprin, Motrin and Aleve! Diuretics, the report suggests, lower blood pressure by removing sodium and fluid from the bloodstream. They also flush out significant amounts of calcium, potassium, zinc, and magnesium.
NSAIDS (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) that are used to relieve pain and inflammation lead to iron deficiency and even worse deplete cartilage. This research has also shown that NSAIDS actually accelerate arthritis and the destruction of joints. Imagine- the therapy we use to supposedly solve the problem creates more of the problem.
The onset of increased Osteoporosis in our society not only has a correlation to lifestyle but it is a direct result of our technology. There is also growing evidence that points out that our culture’s preoccupation to being thin can often cause early onset of Osteoporosis.
In my experience with coaching elite athletes I found, in some cases, a definite decrease in bone mass loss over a four-year period of time and more sustained injuries. The prescribed drug of choice used by most sports medicine practitioners was and still is volumes of NSAIDS. Couple this with athletes, especially women, preoccupation with being thin to the point of restrictive eating and you have a major breakdown in bone strength. This isn’t just a problem with athletes. – young men and women often eat poorly, take Advil or Aleve on a whim of pain and struggle to be thin.
